Your Opportunity
As the Kitchenhand, you will contribute to the provision of quality education and training services by performing a range of kitchen preparation and organisation duties including the replenishment and distribution of consumables.
This position reports to the Educational Operations Manager.
This is a Casual opportunity as required.
The position will be based primarily at our Mooloolaba campus; however, you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.
Key Responsibilities
* Contribute to the success of transformation and cultural change through promoting and modelling the established values of Commerciality, Teamwork, Innovation, and Accountability.
* Provide support to educational staff within the kitchen environment.
* Maintain store including receipt and storage of goods which will assist educational staff in the economical use of perishable goods.
* Maintain wet and dry storage areas in the kitchen, beverage store, and cleaning consumables store.
* Maintain basic equipment levels in a clean and hygienic manner.
* Remove food scraps, empty and clean kitchen bins, and wash, dry, and store all crockery and utensils in order to provide a safe and hygienic work environment.
* Arrange the laundering of all linen for the kitchen and restaurant areas to ensure continued availability by monitoring and maintaining the provision of materials including clean cloths, towels, tablecloths, and table napkins.
* Strip, clean, reassemble and maintain all food preparation and cooking appliances.
* Assist in the preparation and room set-up for internal/external meetings and functions.
* Undertake research and development on matters relating to business functions.
* Ensure day-to-day activities align with business operation as directed by your supervisor.
* Contribute to improvement in business processes and practices.
How You Will Be Assessed
The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:
* Knowledge of health, safety, and hygiene regulations in a hospitality environment.
* Demonstrated ability to undertake kitchen preparation and related cleaning duties.
* Demonstrated ability to provide assistance and support to professional staff in a high-quality hospitality environment.
* Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work both independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to meet deadlines and deliver effective and timely client service.
* Displays the initiative, attitude, and ability to thrive within a dynamic, challenging, and changing environment.
Mandatory Qualifications/Requirements
* C Class manual licence
* First Aid Certificate
* Food handling skills set including food safety and safe food handling practices.
Note: Proof of qualifications and industry currency/experience to be provided at interview.
