Director of Food and Beverage Job Description
As Director of Food and Beverage, you will lead and direct food and beverage operations to ensure quality service and standards are maintained. Your goal is to deliver a memorable guest experience while adhering to government regulations.
Your Key Responsibilities:
* Direct daily activities, plan, and assign work to ensure the right staffing numbers.
* Develop your team by providing coaching and feedback, and create performance and development goals for colleagues.
* Train colleagues to deliver services in compliance with our standards.
* Drive a positive working environment that fosters teamwork and excellence.
* Promote quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
* Recommend or initiate HR-related actions when necessary.
Guest Experience:
* Maintain all food and beverage equipment in operational condition and ensure regular cleaning.
* Ensure all food and beverage facilities, including banquet/convention spaces, are clean and properly stocked according to business volume.
* Establish and achieve quality and guest satisfaction goals.
* Analyze guest insights to identify customer expectations and build loyalty.
Responsible Business Practices:
* Manage hotel food and beverage marketing programs and participate in system-wide promotions.
* Monitor competitor activity and industry innovation, reviewing and approving menu designs and concepts with the Executive Chef.
* Ensure food and drinks are stored safely and keep stock replenished to minimize waste.
* Handle food and beverage inventory procedures, determining minimum and maximum stocks for all items.
* Perform other ad-hoc duties as needed.
* Serve as manager on duty.
* Contribute to the preparation of the hotel's annual budget and set departmental goals.
* Monitor budget and control expenses, focusing on food, beverage, and labor costs.
* Identify additional sales opportunities with the catering office to enhance revenue.
* Drive promotions that deliver great dining experiences at a good value.
* Ensure secure handling of credit and financial transactions.
Accountabilities:
This role oversees multiple managers and supervisors, ensuring a large number of employees in multiple food and beverage outlets and kitchens provide excellent service.
What We Need From You:
* Bachelor's degree or higher education qualification in Hotel Management, culinary arts, or a related field.
* 4+ years of related experience, including management roles.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Able to lead a diverse team.
* Must obtain certifications or permits required by local governmental agencies.
