Take your teaching on the road as a STEM Engagement Educator with the Queensland Minerals and Energy Academy (QMEA)!Join a passionate and diverse team of educators and presentersTravel throughout Queensland delivering STEM curriculum-linked workshops and programs in high schoolsCreate relationships with schools to enhance the educational offerings through industry partnershipsFull-time, 12-month contract role (with opportunity for extension) based in Brisbane, QueenslandRemuneration Package: $80,000-$110,000 including superannuation About the role No two days are the same as you visit schools in the south-east corner and regional Queensland to deliver STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) in-school workshops, activities and presentations that engage high school students with the variety of STEM pathways that exist into the resources sector. Your experience in the use of digital technologies to support this role will be highly regarded.Based in Brisbane, you'll work alongside a team of presenters who engaged with approximately 5,500 students, 420 teachers and 375 industry personnel annually in delivering QMEA workshop and experiences across the state.Your tertiary qualifications and/or employment experience in STEM and/or education, along with your confidence in working in a school laboratory setting and your excellent communication skills will help you to excite and engage students in STEM and many its career options.The workshops, activities, presentations (both face-to-face and virtual) and camps that you will be organising and delivering complement the Australian curriculum and importantly, the skill needs of the resources sector. Automation and robotics skills are increasingly in demand from industry, and part of your role will involve exposing students to the industry applications of these new technologies through the delivery of curriculum-linked components in schools. QMEA's success lies in the partnerships it forms between schools and resources sector employers, so you'll also be able to demonstrate the ability or capacity to work successfully in a team setting to build and maintain strong working relationships with a range of stakeholders including, but not limited to, schools and industry. About QRC and the QMEA The Queensland Resources Council (QRC) is the peak representative body of the state's minerals and energy sector. The Queensland Minerals and Energy Academy (QMEA) is the education arm of QRC.The QMEA network consists of 100 secondary schools and provides a range of experiences to thousands of students annually to raise their awareness of the resources sector and associated career pathways. Programs range in-school day workshops range in length from 1 lesson to 1 day, and QMEA's flagship programs linked to STEM and Trade/Vocational pathways run from 2 to 6 days in length, along with longer-term projects.
