The RoleThe client is a family-owned and operated beef breeding and fattening enterprise situated in Central Queensland, near St Lawrence. They manage an extensive area of over 45,000 acres and maintain a herd of approximately 7,000 head of cattle, employing sustainable rotational grazing methods.
We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced machinery operator to assist with the maintenance and enhancement of our client's properties. The responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to:
Operating various types of machineryConducting maintenance on equipmentPerforming fencing and water system maintenanceManaging weed controlSupporting cattle-related duties as neededIdeally, you will be proficient in operating dozers, loaders, excavators, bobcats, graders, tractors, and trucks. A strong mechanical aptitude and relevant experience in machine maintenance will be highly advantageous. The operation employs Maia grazing, Farm Map 4D, and Avenza Maps to ensure clear communication regarding machinery use and grazing activities.
This position primarily focuses on operating and maintaining machinery for property maintenance and improvements; however, given that it is a cattle station, the owner would value your support in the cattle yards as needed. Your versatility and willingness to assist in multiple areas will contribute significantly to their operations.
The OfferThe selected candidate will be offered a competitive compensation package commensurate with their experience. This package includes a comfortable, three-bedroom house, complete with a yard and garage.
St. Lawrence is located an hour and a half south of Mackay and an hour and a half north of Rockhampton. St. Lawrence is known for its beautiful wetlands and is a fisherman's paradise, with Clairview just up the road. The town offers a primary school, a pub, a public library, and a church, as well as easy access to the major towns of Rockhampton and Mackay for additional necessities.
