We are searching for a news editor who is not just talented and highly motivated but also has the knack for developing fresh and unique angles for our coverage. Your role will involve covering Argus news stories, market commentaries, and other written publications, and you'll be responsible for assigning and editing with speed and precision. Your main goal is to ensure our coverage is of the highest quality, always accurate, fair, and in line with accepted journalism standards. Edit stories, news, exclusives and commentaries, ensuring they are compelling and adhere to Argus standards. Work with the rest of the team to ensure the highest standards of spelling, punctuation, grammar, accuracy and consistency in all published material. We a re looking for a news editor who can handle and break high-value news quickly and accurately. This is a crucial aspect of the role, ensuring our clients are always up-to-date with the latest developments. Report accurately, within deadlines, and at an appropriate length and style. Work on special projects, write news and analysis stories where necessary. What we’re looking for in you A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Economics, Business, History or relevant field from a reputable university. At least 1-2 years of news or copy-editing experience at a recognised publication. Prior experience in a price reporting agency (PRA) or a professional publishing capacity particularly commodities, would be a strong advantage. The ability to write in clear and concise English and a high degree of understanding about grammar, spelling and punctuation. An understanding of what constitutes an effective news story.
