About the OPPORTUNITY We have a great opportunity for a Software Engineer to join our Hunter Class Line of Business based at SA - Tonsley.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
Reporting to the Principle Software Manager, you will be responsible for delegated software engineering activities as directed, in accordance with relevant project procedures and work instructions to achieve project technical, schedule and cost goals throughout the portfolio.
You will take accountability for work packages while working effectively as part of a Software Engineering team.
Key responsibilities include: Undertake all assigned Software Engineering activities, including related artifacts and project documentation, in accordance with identified project directives and BAE standards, and commensurate with the lifecycle stage of the project Proactively provide status update information to relevant stakeholder i.e supervisors and/or project manager Leverage experience to assist in development of project infrastructure, both hardware and software centric, such as tools deployment, metrics collection, code review and continually codebase development in both a traditional agile and waterfall method Responsible for performing software engineering tasks in accordance with the relevant software engineering plans About YOU Minimum 3 years, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or technology degree qualified Working level understanding of Software Development lifecycle and common methodologies Proficiency in full stack development, with a focus on JavaScript, Typescript, and expertise in React is a must have for this role, as well as experience in common platforms, frameworks and languages such as node.js, Python, C#, Prisma, Unity, Git, BitBucket, Express, Spring, Angular Experience in best practice UI/UX and human centric software Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills in dynamically changing environments.
Ability to assess software defects, debug, and think laterally to find root cause and engineer appropriate solutions.
Awareness of Configuration and Change Management principles.
