Today, Citizens is a 338-bed acute care hospital with over 1,000 dedicated employees.Citizens offers a generous benefit package that includes retirement plans upon hire, and an excellent medical plan with optional insurance plans to choose from.If you are interested in pursuing a career with an award-winning hospital, welcome home.Responsibilities: Responsible for evaluation, planning, directing and administering physical therapy modalities of treatment as prescribed by a CMC privileged licensed practitioner.Administers treatments and physical agents as prescribed in an effort to restore function and prevent disability following injury or disease.Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of function, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities.Coordinates, delegates, and supervises responsibilities assigned to supportive staff.Participates in the operational aspects of the department and maintains performance improvement activities within the department.Provides input in formulating budget, assists in evaluating department performance versus budget controls and takes appropriate action to remain in budget guidelines.Ensures that changes of the treatment plan are accurate and entered on a timely basis.Participates by all infection control, departmental equipment training, and organizational safety issues.Responsible for the clinical direction of Physical Therapist Assistants and/or Physical Therapy Technicians.Ability to observe and evaluate treatment effect and recommends change as needed.Ability to perform an appropriate evaluation on all patients as related to the referral and diagnosis.Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs, home needs, and evaluates/records effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching as appropriate.Demonstrates knowledge of physical therapy modalities.Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity.Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients.Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.Maintains department cleanliness and safety.Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the information of the plan of care.Communicates appropriately and clearly, to licensed practitioner, staff and administration team.Coordinates and directs patient care to ensure patients' needs are met and organizational policy is followed.Maintains records pertinent to personnel and operation of the department.Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and other departments.Consults other departments as appropriate to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities.Documentation meets current standards and policies.Assists with orientation and in-service training for certified department staff members, participates in evaluation/guidance and educational programs.Will also obtain two (2) hours of initial Stroke education and then one (1) hour of annual education specifically related to Rehabilitation in the following years.Licensure / Certification Requirements: Required: Licensed by the Texas State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners and BCLS certification required.Experience: Required: NonePreferred: Prefer over one year of combined exposure to acute ortho., neuro., skilled nursing patients, out-patients, home health and wound care.Special Skills and Abilities: Required: Maintain professional skills as required by Citizens Medical Center and Texas State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.Company Profile: Citizens Medical Center is a not-for-profit, community hospital known for compassionate patient care, clinical expertise, and bringing advanced medical services to the South Texas region since 1956.
