The Company Hort Innovation is an organisation that strives for better results for horticultural growers and those across the horticulture supply chain. It is the grower owned, not for profit Research and Development Corporation (RDC) for Australia's horticultural sector. They invest millions of dollars into research and development, marketing, adoption, data and international trade initiatives to improve the profitability, productivity and global competitiveness of the 37 levy paying Australian horticultural industries. Investment decisions are prioritised by current needs in each horticulture industry in consultation with growers. The Role A newly created role and opportunity within Hort Innovation, responsible to lead the commercialisation and management of Intellectual Property (IP) from HIA research and Development (R&D) and marketing investments. A vital role to the organisation to foster a culture of commercialisation while building capability, and support end-to-end commercial considerations, partnerships and opportunities. Reporting to the Head of Investment Growth & Commercial, you will work with the greater organisation right from the early stages of identification, development and planning of potential opportunities right through to realisation. You will initiate and deliver ongoing management of contractual commitments which focus on commercial performance, IP and technology pipeline activities which included contract governance and compliance. This involves: Leading commercialisation of Hort Innovation IP and investments Identify and initiate pathways to market including business cases through building strategic connections, networks and relationships Play a central role to analysis and synthesise current and historical commercialisation data and both internally and externally. Negotiate and facilitate the delivery of project outputs Locate, analyse, synthesise and communicate current and historical IP and commercialisation information from both internal and external sources Overseeing IP assets, trademarks, Plant Breeder Rights, patents, trade secrets, copyrights and domain names Lead the negotiation of commercialisation agreements and licenses to deliver project outputs and results Provide expert advise to Board, Executive Team and staff The Person To be successful in this influential role you will have: Experience in the agricultural or horticultural sector, ideally with an awareness of Australia's RD&E environment Exposure to commercialisation of research, innovation, and commercial investments An understanding of IP management and or IP and company law Exceptional negotiation and influencing skills with a depth of interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills Strong analytical and strategic planning capability complimented with sound financial and business knowledge Ability to work across many different stakeholders in co-design of investments Tertiary qualifications (Bachelor level or equivalent) in Agriculture, Business, Law, Commerce or a related field Resilient and proactive in nature you will be a relationship builder that listens to a broad range of views, driving consensus and action, but well positioned to influence and engage a diverse group of stakeholders.
