Department for Health and Wellbeing – Public Health – Communicable Disease Control Branch, Disease Surveillance & Investigation Multiple Positions Multiclass – Full Time / Ongoing appointment $88,255 to $97,667 – PO2 $100,343 to $107,279 - RN/M2A Overview:The Public Health Officer role within the Communicable Disease Control Branch, Disease Surveillance & Investigation team contributes to the achievement of organisational objectives and outcomes designed to control the occurrence of communicable disease in South Australia. Working in a busy multidisciplinary team; you will be responsible for the collection, analysis, and interpretation of communicable disease surveillance data, including sexually transmitted infections and blood borne infections. You will prepare and present timely reviews of epidemiological information for reports and briefings to relevant stakeholders to prevent and control communicable diseases.You will be required to lead outbreak investigations, undertake analytical studies, recommend public health control measures and inform public health policy. You will also be required to provide health information and advice to members of the public, health professionals, government agencies, researchers and special interest groups. The Public Health Nurse contributes to the achievement of organisational objectives and outcomes designed to control the occurrence of communicable disease in South Australia. The Public Health Nurse is responsible for the collection, analysis, interpretation and reporting of communicable disease surveillance data, including sexually transmitted infections and blood borne infections. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the Public Health Nurse is required to participate in investigations of communicable disease outbreaks and subsequent control activities, you will prepare and present timely reviews of epidemiological information for reports and briefings to relevant stakeholders The Public Health Nurse will be required to provide health information and advice to members of the public, health professionals, government agencies and special interest groups on communicable diseases, immunisation, and the principles of food hygiene and infection control.The South Australian public sector promotes diversity and flexible ways of working part-time. For RN/M2A: Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse/Midwife by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practising certificate with at least 3 years post registration experience. Core business hours are between 0830 to 1700, Monday to Friday. The incumbent will be required to participate in an after-hours on-call roster; some out-of-hours work will be required.
