About the role:
The Nurse Unit Manager of the Cardiac Catheter Laboratory (Cardiac Cath Lab), is an integral part of Calvary’s Leadership team. Reporting directly to the Director of Clinical Services, the Nurse Unit Manager is responsible for administrative and clinical management of the Cardiac Cath Lab providing the highest standard of patient care. The NUM is a positive role model and acts as a leader to all staff of the Cardiac Cath Lab, setting behavioural and clinical expectations and keeping staff accountable to these expectations. The ability to provide ongoing education to junior staff is essential to ensure success in this role.
The NUM will plan, coordinate and direct the implementation of clinical managerial decisions, evaluating outcomes and ensuring processes are in place to support educational and professional development relevant to the Cardiac Cath Lab in collaboration with the Calvary Launceston leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
The role encompasses planning, implementing and evaluating practices, processes and services. This position requires teamwork to achieve excellence in care delivery in line with best practice and legislative requirements. Some key responsibilities include:
1. Responsible and accountable for the financial outcomes of the Cardiac Cath Lab, achieving performance targets.
2. Demonstrated knowledge of safety and quality, clinical governance frameworks and innovative models of care.
3. Responsible for implementation and maintenance of quality improvement programs within the Cardiac Cath Lab.
4. Collaborate with the Cardiac Cath Lab team on coronary angiograms, pacemakers, angioplasty, EPS, and other cardiac devices.
5. Responsible for the management of nursing and ancillary services in the Cardiac Cath Lab, ensuring the service provides a high standard of patient care in accordance with nursing standards and policies.
6. Deliver safe standards of nursing care.
7. Lead successful quality improvement and safety management projects.
8. Maintain unit orientation and education programs to ensure all staff participate in programs required to work safely in the Cardiac Cath Lab.
9. Support and lead staff to implement QI projects.
10. In line with budget, be responsible for stock and stores limits appropriate to needs of the Calvary Launceston Cardiac Cath Lab.

4. Extensive management/leadership experience in Cardiology.
5. Extensive Cardiac Catheter / Cardiology experience.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and quality improvement.
8. Demonstrated ability to identify and deliver on staff education and developmental needs.
9. Ability to manage people and financial resources to ensure smooth business operations.
10. Intermediate level of computer literacy.
11. Strong communication, interpersonal skills and customer service skills.
