An amazing opportunity is now available for Registered Midwives to join the innovative team in the Woman's Acute Assessment Unit (Birth Unit) in the brand new tower building located at Nepean Hospital. These positions that are available are in a Permanent Full time or Part Time role.
This imperative role will see you ensure optimal outcomes for women and their families of the service through the promotion of best practice including the appropriate escalation of care and to work collaboratively utilising effective team communication with members of the multidisciplinary health team in the planning, implementation, assessment and evaluation of patient care.
At all times you will act as an advocate for the specific needs of all women and their families including those from the indigenous population or other multi-cultural groups providing appropriate care to the woman undergoing specialised procedures and will maintain and promote a professional standard evidenced by ethical midwifery practice, adherence to the policies and procedures of the Nursing and Midwifery Service, NMBLHD and the appropriate legislation and statutory regulations.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form).
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
Selection criteria to be addressed:
1. Current registration with AHPRA Registered Midwife (division 1)
2. Demonstrated recent experience and clinical skill in midwifery, including completion of a new graduate year or equivalent experience in Midwifery
3. Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work
4. Demonstrated evidence of being able to provide woman centred care
5. Demonstrated effective communication skills – written and verbal
6. Demonstrated commitment to professional development
7. Ability to work a flexible roster, day, evening or night shift across all days of the week according to the unit/service requirements
8. Experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment
