The Client Relations Department is responsible for delivering excellence in product marketing, service and communications related to Oaktree, its strategies, products and business practices on behalf of the firm and our investment strategies to clients globally, both current and prospective, internal and external.
Scope and Responsibilities
Relationship Management
1. Partners with Marketing representatives on managing client relationships; acts as primary point of contact for servicing large institutional relationships. Monitors client engagement and proactively identifies ways to ensure optimal level of client engagement.
2. Act as contact point for client enquiries (in partnership with Marketing team), developing strong working relationships with the operating and investment functions at investor organizations; gaining an understanding of how an investor operates and their investment objectives to better service them and position Oaktree’s capabilities
3. Responsible for responding to inquiries and determining proactive ways to increase client engagement.
4. Serves as point of escalation for client issues.
5. Organizes and leads client review and diligence meetings.
6. Oversees client onboarding activities (ensures moving through document submissions, mutual understanding of reporting requirements, welcome notes/portal access, etc.).
Sales and Due Diligence Partner
7. Partners closely with Marketing (sales) to lead or support the Investment Due Diligence (IDD) process (e.g., SMA structuring discussions; facilitating RFPs, legal negotiations, and other diligence activities; prepping investment teams and other firm members with key objectives for upcoming meetings).
8. Understands key clients’ investment goals, allocations and current manager make-up and new searches; builds relationships with main contacts for both investments and operations at key client organizations.
9. Assists with presentations and proposals for cross-strategy, multi-strategy or strategic partnership opportunities (working with Product Management on strategy-specific content).
10. Coordinates and/or creates presentations for cross-selling, multi-strategy or strategic partnership opportunities.
Experience Required
11. 5-9 years of relevant experience managing client relationships and servicing clients
12. Good understanding of Australian investors and market, including the local regulatory climate;
13. Solid foundation in investment finance concepts and ability to acquire thorough knowledge of the legal, accounting, compliance and operational aspects of the investment products offered by Oaktree;
14. Ability to interact directly with clients and demonstrated ability to resolve potential client issues;
15. Superior communication skills, both written and verbal;
16. Proven ability to prioritize and execute multiple workstreams while maintaining the highest quality standards; exceptional organizational skills;.

23. Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA or CFA preferred
