The company's headquarters for the Materials Science & Engineering (MSE) Group is located in Newcastle, where a dedicated team of Metallurgists, Materials Scientists, and Engineers work together to provide specialized expertise in analyzing the conditions and causes of industrial plant and equipment failure.
About the Role:
This position offers a unique opportunity for a senior materials engineer to develop a leading engineering and support services presence in the region. Working from either the Newcastle office or the newly established Wollongong facility, you will collaborate closely with key clients on the East Coast, including those in the mining and transport industries, OEMs, manufacturers, and fabricators.
As a senior materials engineer in this role, you will be supported by an experienced team that has grown into a leading consultancy and preferred supplier to industry over the years.
Key Responsibilities:
* Undertake metallurgical testing and root cause failure analysis investigations
* Develop strong relationships with clients through exceptional customer service instincts and interpersonal relationship skills
* Communicate confidently at all levels, both verbally and in writing
* Apply analytical strengths to drive process and procedure improvements
Requirements:
* Tertiary qualifications in metallurgy, materials engineering, or materials science
* At least 7 years of industry experience
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication and report writing skills
Desirable Experience:
* Experience working in the mining sector, manufacturing, power, or transport industries
