At our Veteran & Family Wellbeing Centres (VFWCs), we offer a holistic approach to veteran health services, specifically through our four service streams of Mental Health Services, Physical Rehabilitation and Wellbeing Services, Social Connection Activities and Skills for Recovery Programs.
The purpose of the Liaison Officer role is to:
Connect veterans (current and ex-serving ADF members) and their families to a range of services offered through the Veteran & Family Wellbeing Centres (VFWCs) and Community Organisations to improve their health and wellbeing Actively promote Mates4Mates clinical services and programs to our client group to encourage their uptake of holistic veteran health services.
Key Accountabilities
Provide advice to Executive and Senior Management on areas within role responsibilities and ensure organisational compliance and continued improvement Be an active change agent in all cultural change initiatives through word and action Take active accountability for continued improvement in the delivery of social connection activities and service delivery operations Take a lead role in championing and supporting an outcome-based service and support clients through their recovery and transition into the community Identify, establish, and maintain key working relationships with all stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of services within scope of role responsibility.
Demonstrate peer leadership to other staff and clients, modelling a problem solving, strengths-based approach to how you work Ensure responsible use of budgeted funds when planning and delivering social connection activities Manage own performance, and support others, to deliver work of a professional and high standard in line with the Mates4Mates vision, purpose, and values Deliver social connection programs in accordance with the social connections outcomes framework, policies and procedures to ensure clients receive a service that meets their needs and delivers measurable health and wellbeing outcomes.
Escalate issues as they arise within area of responsibility through the appropriate channels including line manager, peer working groups, centre meetings, regional & clinical managers and Executive Leadership as appropriate.
Ensure outcome measures are administered to clients and collected in accordance with relevant procedures.
Complete risk assessments, MMEX calendar entries, manage professional social media accounts and source and manage contractors where required to conduct social connection activities and programs.
Conduct initial client calls, administrative functions and other related tasks, efficiently and to a high standard.
Actively engage as a primary point of contact with clients to ensure they receive high levels of connection when accessing our services that are purposeful and meaningful.
Represent Mates4Mates at approved external events to promote awareness within the ADF community on our holistic approach to veteran's health through providing information on our social connection activities and programs, mental health, skills for recovery and physical rehabilitation programs.
Comply with Mates4Mates policies and procedures, and relevant legal and ethical standards, including accountability, ethical practice, duty of care, confidentiality, relevant accreditation standards and workplace health and safety.
Maintain all documentation required and ensure compliance to timeframes, client requirements and collaborate with stakeholders for all coordination and implementation processes.
Essential for success Relevant history of training and/or service in the ADF or a close connection; or demonstrated experience working with current or ex-service personnel in a similar role which has created a strong understanding of the issues facing our veterans and their families An understanding and willingness of working in a client outcomes-based service including administering assessment measures.
Experience supporting people who have physical/ mental health problems Experience or willingness to work as a peer worker in a health and community organisation High levels of self-awareness and ability to adjust your communication style to suit your audience Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanour when supporting clients who may be experiencing crisis or are vulnerable, including maintaining appropriate boundaries.
Flexibility in approach to work when unplanned demands of client needs conflict with meeting deadlines.
Basic to intermediate computer skills, including the use of social media, and client databases to undertake administration tasks relevant to the role.
Well-developed oral and written communication skills gained from experience in various contexts.
Must hold current Working with Children check valid for paid employment in your relevant state or territory of operation.
Current Drivers Licence Ability to work evenings/ weekends on a semi-regular basis Advantageous Formal qualifications in providing peer support or community services or mental health services.
