Purpose of the position The Placement Support Officer's primary role is to support the Team Leader in providing Foster and Kinship Carers with personalised support and case management to ensure the safety and successful placement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in family-based care placements.
Responsibilities and duties Conduct assessments for new and ongoing approvals for Carers.Take responsibility for a case load of client carers and coordinate the communication and supports identified to meet the goals of carers and child/ren.Advocate for carers with the Department of Child Safety and other organisations.Follow Assessment and Case Management procedures and standards.Provide high-quality support for Carers, including participation in the after-hours on-call service, and monitor the placement of children and young people through regular home visits.Build respectful and professional relationships with service users, agencies, partners, community, colleagues, and clients.Assist with the Intake/referrals and matching of children to care placements as well as administration tasks for accurate data reporting and record keeping for licensing.Maintain accurate quality record keeping.Participate and contribute to the organisation's compliance obligations under the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and Health Standards Quality Systems (HSQS).At all times work within CQID's Workplace Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.Other responsibilities as directed by the Team Leader.Qualifications and experience Holds a current C Class Queensland Driver's Licence.Current Working with Children Check, "Blue Card".Holds or is willing to obtain a First Aid and CPR Certificate.Current Child Safety Personal History Screening Check.Qualifications or knowledge related to Child Protection.Experience in successful service delivery to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.Experience in client engagement and case collaboration.Skills and Attributes Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage – [Note: Non-Indigenous applicants will only be considered if no suitable Indigenous candidates are attracted in the first round of applicants].Ability to communicate effectively; spoken and written.Competent in the use of Microsoft Office software.Physical ability to undertake job responsibilities.Self-starter, motivated, and able to self-manage work tasks.Strong connection to and knowledge of the local Indigenous Community.
