The Department for Child Protection is seeking a Support Worker or an Access Worker to join the Whyalla Office on a full-time term basis.
The role is responsible for:
* Sensitively handling requests for assistance by clients and undertaking research to prepare appropriate, client-centred responses.
* Enabling clients to access appropriate services through accurate assessment of their request and appropriate referral to Social Workers or to other agency staff.
* Contributing to the development and review of intervention, access and family care plans in relation to access supervision.
* Attending regular case discussions with the DCP workers, supervisor and other relevant parties as required.
* Undertaking child and family support and assisting with programs and activities with cultural awareness and sensitivity.
* Working with children and young people and their parents, by supporting the facilitation of appropriate access arrangements in line with guidelines.
* Organising access visits, including the transportation of children and recording interactions, and organise and facilitate access activities to maximise the safe and appropriate conduct of visits.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have the ability to work within a team and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a range of key stakeholders, including children and their families to effectively plan and coordinate access visits.
You will use your understanding of child development, positive parenting techniques and factors that impact on relationships between children, young people and their families to identify innovative solutions and provide efficient client services.
