The Queensland Museum is the custodian of the state's First Nations Ancestral Remains, Secret Sacred objects, and cultural materials, which are cared for by the Museum at the request of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The Queensland Museum has been actively repatriating Ancestral Remains and cultural material to First Nations communities across Australia since the 1990s.
