We support people living with Alzheimer’s, dementia and cognitive decline, disabilities, post-operative care needs and older Australians.
Our services include aged and disability care, transitional care, hospital in the home, and palliative care. We are currently seeking Care Workers who are enthusiastic and passionate about providing a caring, compassionate, respectful, and high-quality service. Our priority is to help our clients live empowered and independently at home.
Responsibilities
A Care Companion Worker provides support to their clients with daily activities, social outings, appointments, transport, and for the maintenance of a safe and clean environment by performing general light cleaning duties throughout client’s homes including, but not limited to:
* Cleaning of client rooms and bathrooms
* Vacuuming
* Meal preparation
* Companionship activities for clients in their home environment
Specific duties include:
* Adhering to Right at Home policies and procedures including participation in Quality Assurance activities.
* Performing work under the supervision of the staffing coordinator/Care Manager.
* Performing homemaking activities contained in the Client Home Record, which includes, but is not limited to vacuuming, dusting, sweeping or mopping floors, doing dishes, changing bed linen, laundry, and cleaning bathrooms.
* Preparing meals and snacks for clients according to client/family and supervisor’s instructions. May also perform grocery shopping, if prearranged with the office.
* Providing companionship for the client including accompanying client on walks, trips to social/recreational activities, assistance with hobbies etc.
* Documenting services provided in the client record and by use of the telephony system.
* Referring all questions or reports to the RN/Care Manager and should not contact the client’s physician directly.
* Communicating effectively with clients, significant others, and other members of the Care Team while ensuring confidentiality of client information.
* Maintaining up-to-date knowledge and skills by attending In-Service training in accordance with identified needs, particularly in relation to Work Health & Safety.
Services generally between the hours of 8am - 5pm Monday to Friday. It is a requirement of this role that your availability be between these hours to accommodate client-specific rosters.
Servicing Capricorn Coast and Rockhampton Clients, with set locations upon discussion during the interviewing process. 3-4 days per week, Casual basis with the potential to increase to PPT.
Yeppoon/Emu Park servicing hours are 8am - 4:30pm; Rockhampton 8am - 5:30pm. Rosters are set on a permanent ongoing basis. It is preferred that applicants be available for leave cover.
Qualifications
* Satisfactory Australian National Police check
* Current first aid and CPR certificate
* BlueCard
* Driver’s licence and their own car (full comprehensive insurance)
* Currently studying Certificate III, preferred but not essential
