Y NT delivers essential community services through Early Learning Centres, Outside Hours School Care, Recreation centres, Aquatic facilities, Youth Programs, Hostel Accommodation, and the Remote Pools Project.The organisation has a turnover of over approximately $23 million with more than 400 staff working across 26 sites.
Y NT are entering an exciting time for the organisation with the recent appointment of a new CEO underway and an experienced Board looking to continue to make a positive outcome across the Territory. The General Manager, Finance and Accounting will engage across the leadership team and be responsible for the overall management of the finance and accounting functions for the Y Northern Territory. This position provides accurate finance and accounting support, is a mentor, and a subject matter expert. The General Manager will liaise with stakeholders such as auditors, tax advisors, internal committees, and external vendors, organising and managing board reporting, budgeting, forecasting, insurance, assessing business risks, and leading other commercial matters. The role shall identify and implement systems, policies, and processes for the Finance function to improve financial monitoring, accountability, and growth across the organisation.
To be successful in this role, you will bring significant experience in finance and accounting management at a senior level. Key responsibilities include overseeing the development, implementation, and compliance of the financial management framework, providing strategic commercial and financial insights, ensuring the integrity of reported financial results, managing month-end and year-end activities, overseeing general ledger and financial reporting, leading the development of annual budgets and forecasts, and managing the financial aspects of funding contracts. You will also manage the preparation of statutory financial statements, oversee the audit process, and ensure all finance-related reporting obligations are met. Leadership, coaching, and mentoring of the finance team, as well as promoting and achieving organisational goals and cohesion, are critical to success in this role.
Critical to the success of the GM will be the ability to lead and mentor a small team of finance professionals including two accountants and accounts receivable and accounts payable officers (4 in total). The GM will provide guidance and support for the team to ensure their success
