About usPSNMC provides services to support the Public Safety Network (PSN).The PSN includes seven agencies: Queensland Police Service, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, Queensland Ambulance Service, Justice and Attorney General, Queensland Corrective Services, Office of Industrial Relations and Inspector General Emergency Management.The PSNMC is critical to the efficient running of each agency's ICT networks across the broader PSN.The PSN blends service provider and enterprise network architectures built from a suite of multi-vendor network infrastructure located across Queensland.This provides secure network services to client agencies from "wall-port" to Data Centres on-premises, cloud and beyond.Key responsibilitiesThe key responsibilities of the role will include:Work within a specialised team in the provision of second level support for a range of WAN, MAN and LAN communications networks.Follow ITIL based methodologies for addressing issues within customer communications networks in an effective and consultative manner.Provide request fulfilment for PSNMC customers, diagnose and resolve issues where possible or assign to appropriate area, be accountable for monitoring and follow-up action.Work within a technically complex team environment including liaising with suppliers and vendors.Demonstrate effective workplace communication and interpersonal skills including production of procedures and work instructions.About youWe recognise and celebrate that everyone is unique and seek the applicant best suited to the role.We will assess your experience, knowledge and acquired skills, as well as your potential for development and your personal qualities.To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:Mandatory qualifications and conditionsThis position is required to:Participate in a 24x7 on-call support roster.Undertake work outside normal business hours.Possess a current open Queensland "C" class driver's license to facilitate after hours support and on-site visits.Requirements of the roleHighly desirable skills:An excellent understanding of, and extensive experience with data communication fundamentals (Local area networks (LAN), Interconnecting LAN (MAN, WAN), network addressing (IP), Layer2/Layer 3 switching, routing protocols, QoS, HA concepts, LAN access control, Fibre technologies).Physical network, and ancillary services such as power, cabling, and rack systems.Supporting and troubleshooting multi-site Networks.Carriage services, Mobile and Wireless Technologies.A multi-vendor environment of CISCO, HP/H3C, and Juniper.Applications to remain current for 12 months.
