Our client is seeking a Farm Maintenance & Workshop Manager with ideally either a diesel mechanic trade background or fitter and turner qualifications. This permanent position exists on a mixed cropping and livestock operation near Griffith NSW. The farm production systems include cotton, maize, rice, wheat, barley, oats as well as sheep and cattle. All summer crops are irrigated and some irrigated cereals are grown throughout the winter. Much of the mechanical servicing and repairs are undertaken by John Deere and CAT technicians and/or the mechanically sound farm staff, however the position of Maintenance and Workshop Manager is integral to the productivity of the business. Duties will include: • Managing all activities within the on-farm workshop • Responsibility for all aspects of scheduling and maintenance of agricultural machinery, implements, irrigation systems and any other equipment • Attend to breakdowns in the paddock when required • Inspecting, instructing and diagnosing faults where required • Responsibility for managing spare parts inventory, ordering of parts, stock taking and keeping accurate job records • Ability to work within a large team as well as working with management on decision making. • Build and maintain strong working relationships with dealerships and contractors • Prioritising of workloads and budget tracking • Ensuring staff adhere to Company OH&S protocols and procedures Requirements: • Ideally a background in workshop maintenance or as a fitter & turner, with skills in fabrication, welding and machining • Proven workshop management experience • Experience servicing agricultural machinery • Strong mechanical capability • Ability to communicate, train and delegate where necessary • Diesel Mechanic, Fitter & Turner, Fabrication and/or welding trades qualifications and certificates desirable • Experience in a similar workshop based role (not necessarily in agriculture) • Flexibility to assist with all workshop duties and repairs Benefits: This role presents a great opportunity to work within a fantastic agricultural business in a desirable locality with access to local towns and schools.
