Job Description About the position The Optical Technician role is a key member of the optical manufacturing team responsible for the manufacture, testing and assembly of optical components such as lens, mirrors, flats and prisms. You will be responsible for: Fabricating various optical components Reviewing project specifications, requirements and drawings. Ensuring specifications are met and confirmed through test and measurement. Designing and making tooling for the manufacture of optical components Assisting in the alignment, assembly, integration and testing of opto-mechanical assemblies Maintaining local records (workbooks) of manufacturing activities in accordance with KiwiStar standard practice. Generating formal reports and records. Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives Desired Skills and Experience About You As an experienced Optical Technician, you will have care and diligence with an attention to detail. Good teamwork and respect for team members will be a key attribute. You have good communication and influencing skills. You will be required to lift weight up to 20 Kg, so need to be physically capable. Note that we are also seeking entry level Optical Technicians so if more appropriate to your skills and experience, look out for that advert or apply for this role and we will consider you for the entry level position. Experience: At least three years’ experience in an optical manufacturing environment, and/or At least three years’ experience in an electronics or mechanical precision industrial environment would be advantageous.
