Job Description The position is responsible for developing concept designs for physical products that position ANCA Motion as best in class among our competitors. Sound Industrial Design principles are expected to be utilised in the development of concepts to ensure usability and aesthetics. Design concepts must fully consider product cost implications. Undertake detailed design tasks for mechanical components and sub-systems.
Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with Product Managers, Marketing & Sales, and Field personnel to capture key product requirements and pain points with existing products. Execute comprehensive benchmarking of global product offerings to help guide the concept development process. Develop design concepts which can achieve all product requirements as defined in the product requirements. Explore opportunities to add additional innovative features above and beyond those explicitly being requested, which can delight the customer. Utilise sound industrial design principles to ensure products achieve a high level of usability (ergonomics) and aesthetics (branding/look & feel). Engage with Purchasing/Supply Chain to ensure that concept designs can be produced using viable and cost-effective manufacturing processes. Design concepts must include high-level cost estimates that are supported by actual supplier quotes and/or best judgment engineering estimates. Design of mechanical components and systems. Creation of part drawings and specifications. Creation of Assembly drawings and Bill of Materials. Release of mechanical documents to Production. Ensure all designs meet product requirements. Simulation of systems with considerations for thermal, electrical, and magnetic effects. Update and manage existing mechanical designs to support ongoing production. Analysis and development of test plans to validate designs against relevant standards. Development and construction of test fixtures for design validation and production. Development and construction of marketing showcases for new products. Detailed cost analysis of in-development products with a focus on material costs and volume considerations. Management and creation of external facing documents such as user guides and field notices. Qualifications 5 years' experience within a relevant engineering field. Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design or related technical discipline.
