St Brigid's Healesville teaches Italian using the Teachers as Co-Learners approach. Rather than the traditional method of a single language lesson once a week, all our students and teachers now have a daily Italian language lesson. This model of partial immersion is building student and staff capacity to use functional Italian language every day at St B's.
We are looking for a fluent Italian-speaking classroom assistant/ learning support officer (LSO) to continue to embed this exciting contemporary approach to language learning.
The Applicant will:
* Be an enthusiastic, energetic Italian speaker.
* Support the acquisition of Italian for both staff and students of St Brigid's
* Be supported to create teaching resources such as mini videos and word games
* Collaborate with the TCL Languages Leader to prepare for lessons
* Work with staff and students to develop and embed the Italian language
* Be embraced by a warm and experienced staff
* Be required to present a Working with Children Check by December 2024 and adhere to all Child Safety processes and policies of the school
The applicant does not require any teaching qualifications but will rather adhere to the requirements of the Learning Support Officer position. The applicant does not have to be Catholic but must be willing to support the Catholic ethos of the school.
This position is for school hours (8.35am-3.05pm) on Monday only but may be combined with other Learning Support Work for the right applicant.
