Mechanical Fitters Production BAE are currently seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters at the Osborne Naval Shipyards Permanent waged role starting $44.53 to $50.21 Role and Responsibilities The Production Mechanical Fitter is responsible for the execution of activities related to the Mechanical outfitting of Naval vessels within the Osborne Naval Shipyard. This includes the installation of Mechanical Components, Power & Propulsion, Combat systems, Machine shop/ in situ machining, Pressure testing, Load out/ Lock out and other tasks associated with the successful delivery of a naval vessel. There shall also be requirements to undertake upgrades and sustainment work on Naval ships that are currently in service. The role will require you to carry out production activities within blocks (ship sections), ships, workshops and potential offsite facilities. Core Activates: Execute tasks defined as being of a Mechanical function within Production to ensure delivery in line with the Manufacturing Plan Carry out tasks both on-board the Naval Vessel and also within a workshop environment Undertake tasks as described within Mechanical Job Cards and complete associated documentation to capture job progress Ensure time keeping accuracy by booking to correct Job Cards Interpret and utilize complex technical drawings Comply with required Quality and Technical directions contained within Job Card Work scopes and Process Instructions Ensure that all equipment and areas used are maintained in a safe and organised manner Understand and abide by Safety Policies and associated documentation such as Take 5, Standard Operating Procedures and Risk Assessments and help to create a safe working environment for all employees Work on tasks as part of a workgroup and also individually Work with Apprentices and oversee their skills and development as appropriate Interaction with other Trade Groups and Business Functions to enable delivery of the Program Undertake training as deemed appropriate for the role Qualifications and Experience preferred: Trade certificate III in Engineering- Mechanical Trade (Fitting) Demonstrated experience as an Mechanical tradesperson Must be eligible to apply for Australian Defence Security Clearance NSSIC Clearance (Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Identification Card) International Traffic in Arms (ITAR) Regulations Clearances As a Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and either possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearances.
