The ideal candidate should possess strong culinary expertise, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Your day to dayCollaborate with the Head Chef to plan and execute menus that meet or exceed the restaurant's standards for taste, presentation, and qualityOversee and coordinate daily kitchen activities, including food preparation, cooking, and platingAssist in the training, supervision, and motivation of kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to standardized recipes, techniques, and safety guidelinesManage inventory levels, order supplies, and maintain appropriate stock of ingredients, ensuring minimal wastageParticipate in the creation and development of new dishes, while keeping up-to-date with culinary trends and innovationsEnsure that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and in working order; report any maintenance or repair needs promptlyUphold strict hygiene and sanitation standards in compliance with local health regulations, promoting a clean and organized kitchen environmentMonitor and control portion sizes and plate presentation to ensure consistency and minimize food costAssist in cost control measures by implementing efficient kitchen practices and minimizing food wasteSupport the Head Chef in scheduling kitchen staff and coordinating work shifts to maintain optimal coverage during peak hoursStep into the role of the Head Chef during their absence, overseeing all kitchen operations and managing the team effectivelyCollaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure a smooth flow of service, address guest feedback, and maintain a positive dining experienceStay current with industry trends and share culinary knowledge and skills with the kitchen teamWhat we need from youExcellent Service skillsFitness – you’ll be on your feet most of the day with lots of bending and kneelingStrength – sometimes you’ll need to lift, push or pull big objects like barrels & crates up to 23 kgCompliant – as well as meeting local laws on food handling and serving alcohol, you’ll be above the minimum age required and fluent in the local languageArticulate – a great communicator, you’ll be warm, welcoming and easy to talk toFlexible – night, weekend and holiday shifts are all part of the jobExperienced – you’ll know how to prepare a wide range of drinks.
