Volunteer Youth Mentor Who we’re looking for: Anchor is on the look-out for a volunteer to take on a live-in mentoring role. If you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people, we would love to hear from you What you’ll be doing: You will provide guidance and mentoring supporting to up to five young people. You will be a positive role model to the young people and, ideally, you will: • Have an understanding or willingness to learn about adolescent development. • Have good independent living skills and can promote these with young people. • Understand youth issues. • Have the capacity to build strong rapport and communicate effectively with young people. • Have a genuine interest in supporting young people. Program Overview: Located in Pakenham, our program is an out-of-home care placement option providing medium-term accommodation and support to young people who have been placed away from the care of their families by Child Protection. What’s in it for you? As a Volunteer Youth Mentor, you will be provided with rent-free and self-contained accommodation at our Pakenham residence. You will receive a weekly honorarium that you can use for your other living expenses. About Anchor: We assist some of the most vulnerable in our community through services including homeless support, foster care, kinship care, community education and family reconciliation. Our services help people affected by crisis and trauma to restore relationships, get the support they need, and take charge of their futures.
