Make an impact at Serco
As a Registered Nurse - Mental Health at Clarence Correctional Centre, you will provide comprehensive mental health assessments, referrals, and case management to patients. You’ll work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment, ensuring rehabilitation, safety, and security within the correctional system. Your role is essential in delivering holistic, person-centred care to patients with mental health concerns, fostering positive outcomes, and contributing to a respectful and decent environment for staff and inmates alike.
As a Registered Nurse - Mental Health in the Health cohort team, you’ll make a positive impact by:
* Working in a multi-disciplinary team delivering integrated patient-centred healthcare
* Working in a safe, new, state-of-the-art center with access to the latest technology
* Enjoying the satisfaction of doing important work that matters, supporting a diverse patient population in a corrections environment
* Being part of a Health Services team including Nurse Unit Managers, Clinical Team Leaders, Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, and Registered Nurse Specialists
* Providing primary care based on a patient-centered model, allowing patients to actively participate in their health management while collaborating closely with correctional staff
* Educating custodial patients on healthy living and lifestyle choices
* Assisting with reintegration into the community and ensuring continuity of care
* Addressing the diverse needs of custodial patients, including men, women, and culturally and linguistically diverse groups, through tailored care

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:
* Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
* Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a mental health setting
* Strong clinical problem-solving skills and knowledge of mental health care
* Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with diverse stakeholders
* Cultural awareness and an inclusive approach to patient care

Opened in mid-2020, this 1,700-bed state-of-the-art facility is the largest correctional Centre in Australia.
