Description Your new role As the Cyber Defence Engineer at Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation (CSC) you will play an important role in operating and enhancing CSC’s cybersecurity services, ensuring the protection of financial and information assets. This position sits within a team of specialists, focusing on key areas such as Incident Response, SIEM Engineering, Security Engineering, Application Security, Vulnerability Management, Threat Intelligence and Security Awareness. Key Responsibilities Conducting cyber incident response activities, including investigation, remediation, root cause analysis, and security incident reporting Developing and refining cyber detection use cases, analysing security data for anomalies and enhancing detection capabilities using frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK Building automated incident response workflows using SIEM platforms like Splunk or Sentinel, streamlining triage and incident handling to improve efficiency and response times Monitoring and assessing security threats to CSC and its customers while collaborating with government and industry information-sharing groups Supporting audit and regulatory compliance efforts by addressing security findings and implementing recommendations Developing and maintaining cybersecurity documentation, including processes, procedures, and technical reports This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic cybersecurity environment, leveraging automation and intelligence to strengthen CSC’s security defences. Skills And Experiences What you’ll need to excel You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident – a security clearance is highly regarded but not mandatory Tertiary qualifications in Cyber Security, Computer Science or a related discipline, essential 5 years’ experience in Cyber Security Operations, including but not limited to: Incident Response, Detection Engineering, SIEM Engineering, or Security Automation etc Good scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell Knowledge of multiple security frameworks such as NIST, PSPF, CSF, OWASP, ASD E8 Enterprise implementation and operation of security technologies such as: Identity and Access Management, End Point Protection, DDoS Protection, Data Loss Prevention Security compliance in financial and government environments e.g. APRA 231/234 and ISM.
