Experienced Analytical Chemist
About the Role:
Career-defining opportunity for an experienced analytical chemist with Australian Citizenship to join Defence Science & Technology Organisation (DSTO now DSTG) in Edinburgh, SA on a 3-year contract.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and carry out nitrocellulose-based gun and rocket propellant analyses in support of current research programmes as directed by research chemists.
* Perform analyses in support of the assignment of safe storage life extensions to gun propellants and ordnance.
* Troubleshoot problems with analyses and instruments, manage instrument maintenance contracts, and ensure laboratory is stocked with consumables.
* Interpret analytical results sometimes with reference to the appropriate Defence Standards.
Requirements:
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience with HPLC.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in analytical chemistry.
* Demonstrated understanding of QA/QC as it applies to analytical chemistry.
* Highly desirable skills include demonstrated knowledge and experience working with hazardous chemicals, NATA accreditation (ISO/IEC 17025), and analytical chemistry.
* Desirable skills include demonstrated understanding of precautions taken when working with explosives.
Estimated Salary:
$80,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
