In the role of Construction Worker, you will support the project supervisor in the delivery of civil infrastructure works by performing a range of duties with limited supervision. You will support the project teams in undertaking civil infrastructure construction, rehabilitation, inspection, servicing, and maintenance activities, guide and assist other employees as part of a work team, and plan complex work activities to achieve project outcomes. You will maintain strong relationships with customers, stakeholders, and project teams.Some of your responsibilities will include:Read, interpret, and apply plans to civil infrastructure construction, rehabilitation, inspection, servicing, or maintenance procedures, with an emphasis on roads, structures, electrical and intelligent transport services, and line marking.Quantify and identify materials, subcontractors, and services required during construction.Apply standard drawings, specifications, supplementary specifications, and other related job documentation to confirm the standard of workmanship.Co-ordinate the activities of a small work group to achieve desired outcomes.Accept responsibility for outcomes of assigned work activities.Exercise high precision operative skill when using roadmaking plant, small machinery, and equipment and trade skill when performing civil construction works.Mandatory qualifications and conditions:The recommended applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical as part of our selection process for this role.Applicants must possess a current, valid Queensland "C" class driver's licence or equivalent.Possession of a Certificate III in Civil Construction applicable to modern transport infrastructure projects or ability to acquire one within 36 months.A reasonable amount of travel consistent with industry standards will be required throughout the operational unit and/or the State. You will be entitled to expenses and allowances for such travel.RoadTek civil tradespersons are predominately employed in individual operational units located across the state, but at times may be asked to perform work in other areas of the same operational unit or other operational units on a temporary or semi-permanent basis depending on business needs.To maintain commercial viability, civil tradespersons will be required to implement flexible working arrangements consistent with the arrangements in the current Industrial Instruments which covers mobility and site-specific arrangements. These will involve the working of greater than five-day work schedules, and/or living away from home, depending on business needs.RoadTek civil tradespersons will be expected to gain and maintain competencies that are consistent with business needs (mainly mobility between business units), through participation in the Civil Trades Development Program (CTDP) which has been introduced to manage and compensate employees for gaining extra competencies.
