Job Title: Court Support Officer
Location: Burnie, Tasmania
The Department of Justice is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate individual to join our team as a Court Support Officer. This is a fixed-term position until 25 June 2025.
About the Role:
As a Court Support Officer, you will provide critical support to adult and child victims of crime, ensuring they feel safe and informed throughout the court process. Your key responsibilities will include:
• Explaining court processes and terminology to victims
• Providing information about court systems
• Offering personal and emotional support throughout the court process
• Discussing the impact of Magistrates/Judges decisions
• Providing a debriefing service to victims following court appearances
• Referring victims to appropriate support services
• Assisting with practical details of physically getting to Court
Additionally, you will accompany victims to court and police interviews, assist in preparing age-appropriate policy and advertising material, operate as a member of the Safe at Home interdepartmental project team, and provide high-level administrative support to the Victims Assistance Unit.
Essential Requirements:
• Current Driver's Licence
• Pre-employment checks, including identification check and assessment of previous employment history
Desirable Requirements:
• Qualifications in counselling and/or trauma counselling or similar discipline
