The Role
Reporting to the Operations Superintendent, a dynamic and exciting opportunity has opened for a mining professional or experienced supervisor to take the next step in their leadership career with George Fisher mining operations. This challenging position exists to provide support to our Zinc Operations in Mount Isa and will offer variety and opportunity for the right individual. This is a residential role in Mount Isa offered on a 7:7 shift roster which allows you to go home each day and enjoy the lifestyle that Mount Isa has to offer. This position offers a competitive salary, above market superannuation, potential assistance with relocation to Mount Isa and initial housing benefit.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
* Emergency Duty Officer on-shift
* Ensure on-shift incident reporting, investigation and management meet Glencore and George Fisher mine standards and guidelines
* Supporting, coordinating, and coaching of the George Fisher mining teams to assist meet budgeted operational and safety objectives
* Identify interactions and proactively manage activities to ensure that the mine plan is achieved safely
* Participation in the weekly mine planning process
* Ownership of top mine weekly tasks
* Drive compliance and execution of weekly mine plan
* Ensure activities are aligned to the weekly mine plan by clearly communicating key deliverables for the day to the operations supervisors
* Provide visible felt leadership and drive Glencore values
* Coaching and mentoring of operational supervisors in safety, frontline leadership, and operational excellence
* Assist with margin improvement opportunity initiatives
The successful candidate will possess:
* Demonstrated supervisory or mining professional experience in underground hard rock mining operations
* In depth knowledge of underground mining processes, bottlenecks, equipment, and plant capabilities
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills, and be a motivated, outcome-oriented person
* Knowledge of applicable legislation, standards, and codes of practice
* Ability to interpret weekly and monthly mine plans, priorities, and key deliverables
* Exposure to scheduling and mine planning processes is highly regarded
* Knowledge of Safety Management Systems, incident recording and investigation systems
* S1, S2 and S3 site safety supervisor training
* Strong customer focus and attention to detail
* Demonstrated ability to lead and influence key decision makers within a mining environment
