Earbus Foundation is an award-winning not-for-profit seeking a Developmental Psychologist to fill a key position in our passionate and experienced clinical team.
Our mission is to reduce the incidence of middle ear disease in Indigenous and at-risk children in Western Australia below the World Health Organisation benchmark of 4%. We will achieve this via our established Outreach programs, which demonstrate excellence in Aboriginal health.
Our Vision is that current and future generations of Indigenous (Aboriginal) children can succeed at school unhindered by the debilitating effects of Otitis media and its impacts upon their ability to learn and achieve to their full potential. You will be given the chance to do work that makes a genuine difference in communities working within a close multidisciplinary team.
POSITION :
As a Developmental Psychologist you will :
1. Conduct assessments to understand the developmental needs and challenges of children with hearing impairments.
2. Develop and implement individualized intervention plans to support cognitive, emotional, and social development.
3. Collaborate with audiologists, speech therapists, educators, and families to create holistic care plans.
4. Provide counselling and support to children and their families to address emotional and behavioural concerns.
5. Conduct research to stay updated on the latest developments in the field and apply evidence-based practices.
6. Advocate for the needs of children with hearing difficulties within the community and educational settings.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES :
1. Specialist Master’s Degree in Education and Developmental Psychology.
2. Registration with Psychology Board of Western Australia.
3. AHPRA Registration
4. Experience working with children with hearing impairments is highly desirable.
5. Strong understanding of child development and the impact of hearing loss on cognitive and emotional growth.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
8. Working With Children Check
9. Police Clearance
DESIRABLE :
1. Prior experience working within Aboriginal Australia
2. Previous experience working in remote communities
3. Previous experience working with children in an educational setting
4. Prior use of Best Practice software
5. Community Health experience
6. 4WD experience or advanced driver safety course / experience
