We're now seeking a Leading Hand for our Dunedin branch.
You'll be the right-hand person to our Service Manager, bridging the gap between workshop technicians, scheduling tasks, and delivering outstanding service to our customers.

What's in It for You?Diverse Role: Split your time between the tools and overseeing a small team.Career Growth: Hone your leadership and technical skills under the mentorship of an experienced Service Manager.Local Advantage: Use your knowledge of the Dunedin region to build strong customer relationships, plus get to know the area's unique challenges and opportunities.Team Spirit: Work in a tight-knit environment, championing open communication and a supportive culture.Competitive Package: Receive an hourly rate that reflects your expertise, plus the stability and benefits of a large, growth-focused business.What You'll Be DoingLeading & Overseeing: Allocate jobs among your team of Technicians, monitor productivity, and ensure quality work outcomes.Hands-On Repairs: Spend up to 70% of your time performing diagnostics, services, and major overhauls on forklifts and other material handling equipment.Compliance: Maintain workshop cleanliness, manage administration, and ensure all safety protocols (including hazard/incident reporting) are followed.Customer Interaction: Communicate with clients to clarify job requirements, provide updates on repairs, and handle any service concerns professionally.Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance workshop efficiency, promote best practices across the team and mentor apprentices.What It Takes To SucceedMechanical Trade Qualification: Automotive or Diesel (NZ Certificate in Light Automotive Engineering at a minimum).Technical Know-How: Experience in diagnostics, mechanical servicing, hydraulics, or electrics.
Forklift or materials handling background is a bonus, but a background as a Mechanic could fit well.Leadership Experience: Comfortable leading a small team, resolving conflicts, and coordinating schedules.
