About The Role
This is a newly created, permanent opportunity, reporting directly to the Unit Manager Waste Services. This role is responsible for working with residents, businesses and rate payers to support service compliance and to maximise the benefits of our recently reformed waste services.
We are seeking a passionate and driven individual to engage and support our community directly, through provision of information, direct engagement with residents and community groups, leading our Bin Inspection Program (BIP), responding to customer requests for information, support resolution of issues and providing guidance.
Our Waste Services team are responsible for all areas of kerbside waste and resource recovery. The team manages both in-house and contractor delivered kerbside waste services, including 4-stream collection and processing, and hard waste collection. This role works closely with all colleagues in the Waste Services team and the Sustainable Communities team to ensure that Council’s efforts to divert material from landfill is maximised.
Skills And Experience Required To Perform The Role
o Completion of qualification/certification in environmental management, sustainability, education and/or relevant field, or demonstrated equivalent competencies gained through experience.
o Well-developed written, verbal, and other communication skills to enable the preparation of routine reports and external correspondence.
o Good understanding of the waste sector and the long-term goals of waste and circular economy policies and strategies both at Council and State Government levels.
o Knowledge and understanding of the concepts and objectives of the Council’s kerbside waste services, policies and strategic objectives.
o Proven experience building collaborative and respected relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
o Skills in managing own time, setting priorities, planning, and organising own work.
o Proficiency in the use of computers and Information Technology systems e.g., Microsoft Office suite of applications Customer service request systems (e.g., Pathway).
o Current Driver’s Licence.
o Current Working with Children’s check.
