Exciting casual opportunity to join the University in a faculties and buildings support role Starting ASAP on Camperdown Campus HEO4 Step 1, $54.79 per hour + super About the opportunity The University and Faculty environment has changed significantly over the past three years with the introduction of the new Central Operations Services (COS), changes to how technical staff operate across the university through the creation of a university wide Technical Support Services (TSS) team and changes to research direction with new ways of working facilitated by COVID.
This Building Support Officer role is located on our Camperdown campus and is responsible for the day-to-day operational matters related to the School and Faculty infrastructure facilities in liaison with the University Infrastructure (UI), and Campus Operations Service (COS) team as well as the Building Support Coordinator. This position will support the Building Support Coordinator with space management and project work related to continuous improvement of the Science Faculty facilities. This position will also require knowledge and understanding of and the ability to apply WHS policies and guidelines.
Your key responsibilities will be to: Assist with day-to-day operational matters related to the School and Faculty facilities.Identify, report, and follow up issues related to the upkeep and maintenance of School and Faculty facilities, logging maintenance calls, liaising with maintenance workers and communicating with staff where necessary.Act as the primary contact for facilities and equipment maintenance related enquiries and issues.Support asset management and procurement administration.Oversee materials and resources in accordance with policies.About you Diploma level qualification or Certificate IV, with relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education/training and relevant experience.Relevant experience in a Facilities or buildings maintenance role.Knowledge and understanding of and ability to apply WHS policies and guidelines.Capacity to work well under pressure, prioritising to accommodate change, unforeseen circumstances, and the needs of others.Willingness to undergo Tetanus and Q Fever vaccination and/or health screening recommended by the University as relevant to this position.It is a requirement of this position to safely lift and push items to set up field operations. The jobholder may be required to obtain a statement from their medical practitioner, which addresses their fitness in terms of the specific Statement of Fitness requirements.
