Job DescriptionAbout the role We are excited to announce an opportunity at our Melbourne laboratory for an Instrument Lab Technician specialising in volatiles within our organics section. This is not an entry-level Lab Technician role, but a more advanced position where you will be responsible for the smooth operation of instruments and mentoring junior staff. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Volatiles Section Contribution – Be a part of the day-to-day operations of the volatiles section in the organics lab. Analysis – Prepare and analyse samples following strict QC protocols, with a focus on P&T GC-MS/GC-MS. Instrument Maintenance – Perform regular maintenance on key instruments to minimise downtime and troubleshoot when necessary. Data Reporting – Ensure timely and accurate reporting of data through LIMS. Mentorship – Train and mentor junior staff in laboratory processes and techniques. Continuous Improvement – Identify opportunities for process improvements and help streamline lab procedures. WHS and Compliance – Maintain a strong commitment to safety and information security protocols in line with company standards. Desired Skills and ExperienceAbout you To excel in this role, you will need to have: A Cert IV in Laboratory Techniques, Diploma in Laboratory Technology, or Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or a related field. 1-2 years of experience in environmental testing, with strong proficiency in P&T GC-MS and GC techniques. Previous experience in managing a volatiles section in a laboratory. Familiarity with LIMS and laboratory quality control practices. Demonstrated ability to mentor and train junior team members.
