We are seeking a freshly graduated civil or mechanical engineer who has the ambition to become a “Project Manager,” to join our thriving South-East Queensland quarries business. As a new Project Manager, you will have accountability and responsibility for the planning, execution, and delivery of various projects under the guidance of business Asset Manager with support from the National Project Management Team. This role is ideal for recent graduate who is eager to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting and develop their project management skills in a professional environment. This pivotal role can be based at any of our operational or functional offices in the SEQ Quarry Network.
Reporting to the Asset Manager, your primary responsibility will be to deliver effective project management for Fixed Plant Upgrades, Ancillary Equipment Installations & Mass Excavation / Stripping Campaigns across the SEQ Quarry network. You will play a crucial role in implementing sound strategies and plans while ensuring successful communication.
Your day will involve:
1. Lead safety, quality, delivery, and financial aspects of projects.
2. Optimize financial performance through coordinating, programming, and administering all contracting operations and obligations.
3. Provide effective team leadership, engaging with multiple internal departments to exceed client expectations.
4. Ensure compliance with Boral's OHSEQ policies, meeting Safety, Environmental and Quality standards.
5. Manage day-to-day operations in urban and remote locations.
6. Analyse, record, and report on project risks and mitigations.
7. Provide regular reporting on project schedules, look ahead and at-risk activities.
8. Review and approve deviations to the project plan and schedule.
9. Complete all documentation for efficient costing, raw material management, and invoicing for projects in your area of responsibility.
10. Evaluate team effectiveness and coach team members for superior performance.
What are we looking for?
11. Hold a Tertiary qualification in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
12. Ideally hold a Certificate 4 or Diploma in Project Management, support in pursuit of obtaining the qualification can be provided.
13. Well-developed understanding of best industry health, safety, and environmental practice.
14. Competent professional with an appetite for working in and enhancing an inclusive open team.
15. Effective negotiator and highly competent communicator.
16. Excellent communication skills and advanced skills in Microsoft Suite, including MS Project.
