Community Work and Partnerships is one of four service delivery streams within Community Correctional Services (CCS) of the Department of Justice and Community Safety. We are responsible for the development of mutually beneficial partnerships with government agencies and non-government organisations so that participants can undertake unpaid work as part of their community-based sentence imposed by the Courts of Victoria.What does a Leading Field Officer do? The Leading Field Officer carries out the duties and functions of a field officer including the supervision of individuals completing community work tasks. The Leading Field Officer is required to coach new Field Officers and induct them to the role. Co-supervision of field officers in conjunction with a supervisor may be required.Other responsibilities of this role include:Performing site inspections to assess hazards or assisting a Field Officer.Providing informed workplace health and safety advice, guidance and instruction.Maintaining a tools and equipment register and ensuring repairs.Producing monthly stock reports and other written reports relevant to the work undertaken.We are recruiting for two positions – one primarily based in Derrimut (West) and one primarily based in Coolaroo (North). Regardless of primary location, the positions will be required to work across other locations within the North West Metropolitan Region as needed.To be a successful Leading Field Officer, you will: Possess exceptional leadership, conflict management, problem solving and interpersonal skills with a focus on service excellence and developing others.Be able to effectively communicate with various external stakeholders including community work partners, property owners and the general public while supervising community work.Have relevant community work or experience with a range of equipment used on community work sites.Have the ability to quickly build rapport in order to understand the motivations of others, identify issues and suggest courses of action appropriate to their needs.Qualifications: A full and current driver licence is essential.An accredited qualification in Workplace Health and Safety is highly desirable.An accredited qualification in training and assessment, such as TAE, or competency units in workplace instruction, is desirable.Prior to commencement, you will be required to obtain a current Certificate II in First Aid.Why work with us?
