By choosing a career with us, you can expect a challenging and fulfilling role surrounded by people who are passionate and have brilliant ideas about sustainable technology, innovation and making the world a better place.What You’ll do (the role)SummaryThe Wind Energy Resource team is located with the Central Engineering department, being part of the Energy Resource team (fka Performance team).This team will be supporting all areas of LSbp but will focus on supporting Central and Commercial Engineering in producing accurate simulation predictions for onshore wind sites as well as the guarantees and methodology to measure against those guarantees. The role will also be in charge of TA engagement on onshore wind energy resource matters. Additionally, this role will ensure the methods to accurately assess new assets’ energy production before their acceptance and hand-over to Operation, as well as supporting the Operation Performance team to accurately predict assets production and troubleshooting.This global team may participate at any project stage: development, design and construction, as well as in operation stage, in coordination with other areas such as Business Development, Planning and GIS, Main Equipment SME, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Commercial Engineering, Development Engineering, Construction Engineering, Operation and Innovation.Duties and ResponsibilitiesUndertake and manage EYA simulations for the early stage of onshore wind projects worldwide. Especial focus in new markets.Support onshore wind projects WTGs layout delivery.Evaluate specialized software being used and to be used to deliver Wind Energy Resource area duties.Assess optimal solutions when Basic Designs are either outsourced or internally carried out.Advise Commercial Engineering and Development Engineering on review of EPC and TA simulations.Analyze operating onshore wind portfolios performance to update performance modelling assumptions.Support the LCOE optimization process for new and existing projects internationally, iterating as many times as required with Commercial Engineering, Development Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction, SME, etc.Write and review performance requirements of provisional acceptance and warranty periods acceptance tests for global market adoption.Support the acceptance tests processes with Commercial Engineering and Construction Engineering.Investigate and develop new calculation methodologies to maximize energy yields assessments accuracy.Participate and lead as needed analysis and modelling of new hybrid sites (e.g. onshore wind/BESS/solar hybrid sites).Advise Commercial Engineering and Development on new guarantee structures for PPA contracts.Manage relationships and work with Technical Advisor on development sites but also ad hoc requirements.Who we’re looking forKnowledge / ExperienceDeep experience in undertaking wind Energy Yield Assessments.Familiarity with the interactions of developer, EPC and TA in onshore wind project development. Nice to have such experience for utility scale PV and BESS as well.Detailed knowledge of onshore wind simulation software.Detailed knowledge of market movements on, and standards of, onshore wind modelling and simulating assumptions.Ideally experienced in working across multiple jurisdictions and time zones including some travel.Nice to have some experience and confidence in data analyses/modelling of both renewable and micro grid/storage sites.Knowledge of main players in the industry (TAs, IEs, Investors, EPC, third party labs, etc).Education & ExperienceDegree or Master’s Degree in engineering, geography, cartography, renewable energy or similar.10+ years of experience in renewable energy technical roles or equivalent, with a significant focus on wind energy resource and its influence on the project success.International working experience or in projects globally.Fluent English spoken and written.
