Your Opportunity
As the Security Officer, you will:
* provide a quality customer experience within TAFE Queensland Gold Coast Campuses (Southport/Ashmore, Robina/Coomera) that meets the security needs of all campus customers, including students, staff, contractors, site tenants and visitors.
This position reports to the Site Services Operational Lead
This is a Permanent Full Time opportunity - however this process will also facilitate the recruitment of any temporary and casual roles available.
The position will be based at Southport / Ashmore / Robina / Coomera, however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform Security Officer duties in line with TAFE Queensland’s Procedures, Policies and Code of Conduct, including:
o Conducting campus opening and closing services.
o Conducting regular full campus and carpark security patrols and safety checks.
o Completing regular checks on emergency equipment and resources as part of safety checks, including fire safety doors, fire extinguishers, emergency exit signage, defibrillators, and first aid kits, reporting to the WHS team.
o Coordinating contractor access, including issuing keys and access cards and tracking their sign-out and return.
o Observing, monitoring and reporting irregular or suspicious behaviours of persons on campus.
o Safely and appropriately escort unauthorised persons off campus premises, within procedural guidelines.
o Electronically record and submit shift notes at the end of each shift, including identified maintenance needs (e.g. broken lights, vandalism) and log WHS hazards and incidents in Smart360.
* Act as the first responder to campus emergency incidents, including providing first aid assistance.
* Partake in emergency evacuation procedures in accordance with the Campus Emergency Management Plan.
* Respond to all customer enquiries in a courteous manner, providing correct advice or direction when required and identify where to escalate inquiries to appropriate supervisors.
* Perform additional appropriate duties as directed by supervisor that assists in the efficient operations of campus activities.
* Consistently demonstrate behaviour that shows your commitment to TAFE Queensland Gold Coast's values and commitment to the customer service experience of all students, staff, contractors, tenants, and visitors.

How you will be assessed
The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:
1. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in current best practice security operations, and the ability to effectively adapt with environmental demands.
2. Demonstrated proficient interpersonal and communication skills including, positive customer interactions, situational awareness, cultural awareness, effective de-escalation techniques and written/digital incident reporting.
3. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in operating electronic security systems (such as CCTV, digital card access, programming electronic doors, incident reporting)
4. Demonstrated understanding of current WHS and Emergency practices.
5. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic and multi-disciplinary team.
Requirements
* Certificate II in Security Operations; or higher
* Current Security License
* Current First Aid & CPR
Highly Desirable Requirements
* A current open driver’s licence
* Previous experience in a Security Operations role within an educational facility or similar environment
