Where you'll be working Regional NSW This requisition allows candidates to apply for an Advanced Skills Training only position, an RG Single Employer Pathway only position, or both AST and RGSEP combined. What you'll be doing NSW Health aims to grow a dedicated and sustained Rural Generalist medical workforce to assist in improving access, quality, and sustainability of primary health care services for rural and remote communities. NSW Health established the NSW Rural Generalist Medical Training Program (RGTP) to provide a supported pathway for junior doctors wishing to pursue a career as a Rural Generalist able to provide primary care in a general practice setting as well as advanced services and /or procedural skills in a rural hospital. Rural Generalist trainees on the RGTP pathway will undertake learning and professional development activities with the aim of progressing through training to achieve at least one advanced skill and Fellowship of either or both the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) or the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners-Rural Generalist (RACGP-RG). NSW Rural Generalist Training Program Advanced Skills Training (AST) This is a direct entry pathway into a 12-month advanced skills training post in either Anaesthetics, Obstetrics, Palliative Medicine, Paediatrics, Mental Health, Emergency Medicine or Adult Internal Medicine. Entry to the position is suitable for Rural Generalist trainees who are enrolled in GP training and have college approval to undertake Advanced Skills training. This is a one-year contract only, trainees will be engaged under existing NSW Awards and determinations while undertaking advanced skills training. Trainees will commence or continue, general practice training following completion of the Advanced Skills Training year. For more information http://www.heti.nsw.gov.au/rgtp NSW Rural Generalist Single Employer Pathway (RGSEP) This employment model offers junior doctors on a Rural Generalist Pathway one contract for the length of GP college training (up to 4 years) by the employing rural Local Health District (LHD), while completing training in primary care and hospital settings, and at least one advanced skill. Trainees will be engaged under existing NSW Awards and determinations. Length of contract (1-4years) will be determined by the trainee’s stage of GP training. RGSEP opportunities exists across the following NSW Health LHD's: Far West, Murrumbidgee, and Western NSW. Whilst aligned to a central hospital within the LHD, the trainee may be required to perform their duties at peripheral or neighbouring communities. AST applicants must have at least three post graduate years’ experience as a medical officer within Australia by commencement of the position with qualifications and experience commensurate with essential requirements for the role. RGSEP applicants must have completion of at least three (3) years full post graduate years’ experience as a medical officer in an Australian public hospital service; OR at least two (2) years’ experience as a medical officer in an Australian public hospital service and is in training under an accredited GP training program which allows the medical officer to commence the position at PGY3 with qualifications and experience commensurate with essential requirements for the role. Demonstrated genuine interest in a future career as a Rural Generalist with an advanced skill set. Demonstrated ability to work within a complex clinical environment utilising appropriate clinical skills, judgment, and expertise. Evidence of excellent communication skills, including both oral and written skills and a sensitive approach to clear communication with patients, carers, other professional and the public. Demonstrated commitment to behaviours which align to the NSW Health Code of Conduct, policies, and guidelines. AST applicants: must be a current GP trainee, enrolled in either FRACGP-RG or FACRRM via AGPT, RVTS or ACRRM independent pathway. (Evidence of GP college enrolment and approval from the relevant college to undertake advanced skills training is mandatory). RGSEP (only) applicants: must be a current GP Trainee (enrolled in either FRACGP-RG or FACRRM via AGPT, RVTS or ACRRM Independent Pathway) OR eligible for GP training AND in the process of applying.
