About the role We are currently looking for a Lawyer or Associate (2-5 years PQE) to join our high-performing Public Law – Commercial team led by Partner Anthony Willis.
Our team has a strong reputation for providing exceptional legal services to government clients.
You will be joining a cohesive and friendly team and working collaboratively with highly creative lawyers who are often market leaders in new areas of technology commercial work such as cloud services and AI.
You will primarily be advising Australian government clients on a broad range of exciting government procurement and contracting, IP and commercial matters with a strong focus on technology projects and implementation of major government programs.
You will work on some of the most complex, high value, interesting, and nationally significant projects undertaken by governments.
About you Ideally you will have experience advising clients and helping solve problems and enjoy working collaboratively and contributing to a team environment.
You should bring a sense of openness to learning new skills, and you will bring a level of common sense, emotional intelligence and pragmatism to your practice of the law.
You should be able to understand the 'big picture', as well as having strong attention to detail and sound technical legal drafting and contract and statutory interpretation skills.
You will also have the following skills and experience: 2-5+ years' experience as a lawyer working with government clients Procurement and general commercial law experience, preferably with some knowledge of IP General legal experience (whether that's in dispute resolution, commercial law, administrative law, general public law) Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills Experience working collaboratively in a team environment Motivated with a keenness to learn and desire to be part of a high performing team An existing security clearance would be highly regarded Why join Maddocks?
