Branch The Revenue Group is responsible for leading policy analysis and providing expert advice to the Victorian Government on the following issues: Tax policy, including oversight of state taxes, such as property, insurance, and payroll taxes, opportunities to improve the State's tax mix and performance of the tax system. Gambling policy, including advice on economic, tax and legislative issues in relation to lotteries, gaming machines, casino and wagering. Intergovernmental financial relations, particularly in relation to the distribution and design of Commonwealth funding to states and territories. Revenue forecasting, including of Victoria's GST revenue and state own source tax revenues. You will lead the Tax and Gambling Policy team which is primarily responsible for developing and delivering policy in relation to business and gambling taxes. About the role As Director, tax and gambling policy team, you will be responsible for leading a skilled team to provide analysis and advice to Government on a suite of business related and gambling taxes. This role includes interaction with a range of other groups in DTF working in related areas such as housing, planning and infrastructure as well as other key agencies, including the State Revenue Office. You will: Provide authoritative, strategic, and practical advice to the Treasurer, senior DTF executives and other stakeholders on economic, financial, and public policy issues of major significance to the Victorian economy and Government to inform decision making. Oversee complex projects and tax reforms including production of government reports and budget publications utilising economic policy expertise and subject matter knowledge. Oversee a team of two or three managers and their direct reports, collaborating with Directors of Tax Policy and Projects, Intergovernmental Relations and Revenue Forecasting. About you We are seeking applications from candidates with demonstrable experience in: Demonstrated capacity in the application of economic, financial or public policy analysis to complex issues, and in the provision of economic, financial or public policy advice at a strategic level. High level negotiation, influencing and communication skills (written and verbal) with a proven ability to engage strategically with senior stakeholders both inside and outside of government. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, including the ability to motivate and build the capability of teams Experience leading in a specialised and complex field, with an ability to distil key issues and quickly respond to emerging priorities. Demonstrated knowledge of economic, fiscal and strategic issues affecting Victoria as well as an appreciation of how Government operates. Experience and qualifications Appropriate tertiary qualifications in economics, commerce, finance, public policy or a related discipline.
