The Payroll Manager provides leadership and guidance to the Payroll team and is accountable for on-time, accurate, delivery of payroll activities for the university. The position will actively participate in projects particularly relating to payroll and related IT systems to implement effective and efficient processes for the engagement, payment and lifecycle of the University's employees.The Payroll Manager provides strategic advice, analysis, interpretation, recommendations and/or decisions on the full range of payroll related, legislative and compliance matters. The position will proactively identify, implement and/or manage initiatives/projects that continuously improve the delivery and efficiency of payroll and staff benefits activities and services to clients, and will build effective professional relationships while facilitating effective communication both within Human Resources and with clients and external stakeholders.Key Responsibilities Manage, deliver and continuously improve the end-to-end Payroll process for the University. Lead, manage and develop a team of payroll professionals to deliver consistent, timely, accurate and effective services to all internal and external clients of the University which complies with legislation and audit requirements. Provide high level support, advice and expertise to senior management, staff, internal and external clients in relation to payroll-related matters in areas such as payroll system performance and enhancements, policies, procedures and processes. Manage and significantly reduce overpayments and recovery processes, off-cycle payments, and staff data integrity issues by implementing consistent and documented business process and system improvements. Ensure the integrity of HR Master data, processing, and reporting and ensure that the accuracy in payroll accounting is adhered to. Provide expert knowledge and experience in processing employee benefits and taxation legislation requirements including executive and senior management remuneration, superannuation, WorkCover payments and salary packaging items. Ensure all payments are made in accordance with Awards, Agreements, Policy and Procedures, Fair Work, Payroll Tax, Superannuation, and other relevant legislative requirements. About you The occupant of this position will hold relevant postgraduate qualifications and relevant extensive experience at a leadership level, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. A commitment to continuous improvement experience in optimising payroll processes and technology. Experience interpreting payroll across multiple industrial agreements and awards. Ideally experience in PeopleSoft payroll and the university sector. Candidates must have full unrestricted Australian work rights and may be subject to a National criminal history check.What we can offer This is a continuing opportunity and will be based at our Nathan campus. As Griffith is a multi-site University you may be required to work across other campuses.HEW 9 Salary - Base range - $129,419.86 - $134,047.43 + 17% super.
