We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to support a growing Maritime SME as part of one of Australia's largest Naval enhancement programs. This is a senior leadership position which will influence customer outcomes, technical delegation, system engineering management and cost effectiveness. Candidates must have Defence industry experience within CASG and a current or reinstatable security clearance (Baseline, NV1, NV2). Canberra location with relocation assistance. Role: Senior Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities: Assess and advise on key mechanical system technical risks;Support the review of technical deliverables from the project's Head Contractor;Review calculations applying mechanical system engineering principles, techniques, procedures and criteria for naval ship designs;Engagement with the combat system delivery participants to address provision of combat system cooling requirements, and establishment of the associated interfaces;Assess and advise on suitability of system characteristics including performance, noise and vibration;Mentor and share experience and lessons with project team personnel to advance mechanical engineering skills and knowledge within the project's technical team.Manage Commonwealth and APS requirements and influence customer outcomes. Qualifications/Requirements: Degree-qualified mechanical or marine systems engineer with strong knowledge and experience in marine mechanical systemsStrong communication skills, including the ability to engage with senior stakeholders and decision authorities and explain complex positions and issues in a concise mannerA demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and share experience and lessons with the project team membership to build mechanical engineering skills and abilities in the project teamExperience in design and specification of marine mechanical and auxiliary systems, including Heating, Air Conditioning, Ventilation (HVAC), Chilled Water (CW), and other cooling water systemsUnderstanding of systems engineering process - from specification writing, requirement analysis and traceability through to system level design/interface, and requirements management.
