School Of Special Educational Needs: Sensory (SSEN:S) is seeking a motivated and innovative Associate Principal to collaboratively lead the implementation of the school’s Strategic Plan, 2024-2026.
SSEN: S provides educational support for children with hearing loss, vision impairment or dual sensory loss. The staff strive to meet the individual needs of learners by providing educational support for children and students while supporting schools to provide fully accessible learning environments, curriculum, and school communities. Educational support is available across the public school and non-government system, from birth to Year 12. As a state-wide specialist service, SSEN: S is part of a network of specialist schools which operate under the Statewide Services pillar of Service Delivery.
The Associate Principal should support the SSEN:S leadership team to achieve service delivery goals by ensuring that staff are empowered, developed, and monitored in their role while legislative, policy, procedural and practice standards are met. They provide educational leadership for the school in collaboration with the Principal and other members of the leadership team, by encouraging staff to share ownership of the SSEN:S vision, values and goals.
The successful applicant should utilise effective change strategies and assist school communities to accept and develop opportunities for improved services. A key component of the role will involve leading a team of specialist staff delivering professional support to school age students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Experience working with students with disability, hearing loss, vision impairment or dual sensory loss is highly desirable.
The successful applicant will be located on site at Padbury Statewide Services. With many hubs located in the metropolitan areas, and across the state, this position may involve the successful applicant travelling. Applicants should hold and maintain a current WA drivers’ licence.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

1. Capacity to manage physical and financial resources and to contribute to the delivery of high quality services and initiatives in an educational environment.
2. Knowledge of current policy and highly developed skills and experience related to children with special educational needs, evidence-based pedagogy, unified and responsive service, change management, staff development and school improvement initiatives.
3. Highly developed organisational, conceptual and analytical skills with capacity to apply complex concepts in support of service improvement and policy and program development.
4. Highly developed communication, networking, teamwork and interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of people within the education community and a variety of other contexts.
