Project Engineer - StructuresAbout Inland RailThe Inland Rail Program is a 1600km rail infrastructure project stretching from Brisbane to Melbourne incorporating new and existing rail track. The program includes the upgrading of existing standard gauge track, the enhancement of existing standard gauge track to cater for double stacking and the construction of new standard gauge links comprising of viaducts, tunnels, rail track, crossings and bridges. More information relating to the project can be found here: Inland Rail.About the opportunityThe Illabo to Stockinbingal (I2S) section of Inland Rail involves the construction of 39km of new rail corridor and 3km of upgraded track just east of Illabo and at Stockinbingal, NSW. This will provide a direct route from Illabo to Stockinbingal bypassing Cootamundra and the steep and winding section of track known as the Bethungra Spiral.As a Project Engineer on the I2S project, you will be responsible for the delivery of bridges, culverts, underpasses and other engineered structures within scheduled timeframes, delivered safely and within budget and quality parameters. You will be required to work closely with the civil earthworks and rail delivery teams.Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be based onsite during the construction delivery phase to support the Project Manager in the onsite monitoring of the Contractor's Activities and your primary responsibilities will include:Assist in the planning and delivery of the I2S project in accordance with IRPL's requirements.Contribute to project safety culture, requirements and initiatives.Take a lead role in collaborating with the Design and Engineering team to address technical queries, planning and design issues, compliance and value engineering initiatives.Develop and review scope, program, cost and safety inputs for work packages related to contractor activities and validate their implementation.Regularly report on the contractor's construction and engineering compliance, performance, and any scope deviations or variations.Assist in the preparation of contract documentation, administration of contracts, and financial forecasting and reporting on respective contracts.Undertake site inspections and liaise with consultants, engineers and key stakeholders.About youTo ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate:Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalent.Demonstrated experience in structures including bridges, underpasses and culverts.Highly developed problem solving and interpersonal skills.An excellent communicator with demonstrated commercial acumen.A focus on safety and wellbeing with a sound understanding of work health and safety principles.What you'll be joiningYou will join one of the largest infrastructure programs in Australia.This project will generate thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in local investment, boosting regional economies and communities right along the alignment.Inland Rail is proud to have over 40% female representation and we would like to see these numbers grow.Inland Rail is an Agile working environment in our State-of-the-Art office embracing flexible working conditions.Inland Rail adopted a collaborative approach to the delivery of the project, leading all parties involved to work toward the same goal.
