Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.Base pay range$129,089.00/yr - $138,273.00/yrAs the Principal DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the adoption of DevOps practices (such as IaC and CI/CD pipelines and technologies) and uplifting the capability of DevOps with operation and development teams across the business. You will also design and implement cloud solutions which are secure, scalable, resilient, monitored, auditable and cost optimised.Your Key Responsibilities:Design, develop and deploy cloud infrastructure environment for large and complex products through the use of automated Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) templates (SFIA: PROG 5).Implement, develop, and document standards, processes and frameworks to support modern DevOps release deployments across all stages and iterations of the software development lifecycle (SFIA: SLEN 6).Lead system design activities for strategic, large and complex systems development programmes. Develop effective implementation strategies consistent with specified requirements, architectures and constraints of performance and feasibility (SFIA: DESN 6).Apply sound advice and guidance on Information Security practices ensuring that cloud solutions deployed are secure by design and embedded into solution architecture (SFIA: SCTY 4).Lead integration work in line with the agreed system and service design, measure and monitor the applications against development standards. Assess risks and take preventative action (SFIA: SINT 5).Provide advice and guidance on test planning and executing in addition to adopting the use of modern testing methods, automated tools, and techniques to ensure high quality DevOps practices (SFIA: TEST 5).Through business consultation and collaboration, gather requirements and identify functional needs, define and implement cloud solutions as required (SFIA: CNSL 5).Remain up to date with industry trends and technologies, evaluate benefits of adopting into the department, implement and drive adoption.Identify and mitigate risks related to cloud security, access controls and privacy compliance/regulations. Collaborate with Security teams to implement controls, maintaining a high, compliant security posture.Technical Skills, Abilities And Cultural Capability:Demonstrated experience in Infrastructure-as-Code technologies (BICEP, ARM).Demonstrated experience of Microsoft cloud infrastructure technologies (Azure, DevOps).Demonstrated experience in deploying cloud resources via CI/CD pipeline toolsets (DevOps Pipelines).Sound experience in scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash, JavaScript).Sound understanding of cloud networking and security appliance configuration and designs.Experience in automated testing toolsets and the development of unit testing.Proven ability to translate requirements into appropriate solution designs and architecture.Experience in managing stakeholder relationships across a diverse landscape.Proven ability to coach and mentor others in the adoption and capability uplift of DevOps standards and practices across teams and technical domains.Applications to remain current for 12 months.Job Ad Reference: QLD/620706/25Closing Date: Monday, 3rd March 2025Seniority levelMid-Senior levelEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionEngineering and Information TechnologyGovernment Administration
